@stevemcqueenforever youre probably using too much pressure. try just lightly touching the razor to the skin and use short strokes. be sure to first go with the grain, then against the grain, then across the grain, relathering before repeating of course. also make sure your face is moist enough too. and to use a good aftershave to keep the skin moist and cool it down. but like i said, be gentle, you probably have sensitive skin

I am turning 30 in a month, and I have been using can goop and the latest multi-bladed contraption since I started shaving. KMF "Moisture Shave" is a shave cream, I don't know if they make an aftershave as well (wouldn't suprise me if they do). Rinse w/cold water to close pores then the aftershave balm will protect the skin. See my "advanced shaving techniques" video for ideas for the chin--I find "blade buffing" works well there.

Thank you so much for this tutorial Teresa, YOu are truly a very good teacher. Please could you help me with a pattern for doing a Crochet Square measuring 8 Inches. the pattern I am doing just now is: 34 ch, Dc in 3rd ch fm hook and dc across. turn ch1 and then dc across to measure up to 8". which is taking forever. also I am struggling to keep the square in its shape. what am i doing wrong? especially towards the end when I have to turn do I slip stich or do a Dc ? thanks for your help.

@guitarbumx too airy/foamy a lather usually means either you didn't mix it enough or have too much water for the amount of soap/cream. Try starting with not enough water, mix it until it's obvious that it's not going to get any better, add a bit of water, mix again, add more water, etc. This will take some time but once you discover the right cream/water ratio you should be able to replicate it quickly.

@mantic59 I'm using a mini-badger hair brush (one that came in the Art of Shaving 'starter' pack) and Taylor of Old Bond St. cream (from a tub) and I never seem to get the thick, "whipped cream" kind of? lather but instead an airier, "latte foamed milk" sort. Is there any reason for this? I've tried using more and less water but it just doesn't seem to get as dense as it should. Do I just need to mix it longer than usual because the brush is smaller?

Ok, from reading shaving forums ive been charging my brush for about 20 secs to get as much soap on as poss, then for the 2nd & maybe 3rd pass another quick swirl on the soap to get a little more soap. jkd and any other gung fu style like hung gar can adept and apply to a persons movement. Its not the style who makes a person great its the person him/herself that becomes great in using it. Like wong fei hung he did not create hung gar but he perfected it even more than its past users...jeet kune do is a mixed concept using western boxing, wing chun, and the fencing stance. it can adept to any other form of martial arts like chinese boxing. here is my lecture people understand it

@mageslol yet as we agree, JKD is what you make of it. I still agree to disagree but I'd just like say that Jet had extensively studied Kung Fu. At this point I've lost interest in figuring it out, Martial arts are one of those things where you can get lost in the concepts and background while forgetting what they're really about, or even just enjoying a great fight scene.

If there is any question about who is who, or which participant is practicing which form of art, then people shouldn't speak. Anyone who doesn't know what Jet Li looks like, or can't figure out that the opening bow from the dude in orange is practicing traditional kung fu, shouldn't be commenting. There are sooooo many nuances, even in the footwork and facial expressions, if you can't figure out that Jet Li (the guy in white for those of you who don't know) is portraying Jeet Kune Do, then Pff

@mageslol True, about jeet kune do being a concept, and true about Wing Chun. I just feel that in watching it several times the guy in the orange is using jeet kune do because of his steps appear more Philippine style with the chicken step that he is using. Also, his punches are vertical, yes so are Jet's but his also start out horizontal. I'll end with, these are two highly proficient martial artist who probably have studied many different ones and therefore made them their own, so who knows

@Guitar884 I didn't make this but but feel like answering your question. Technically yea both grips can do the same thing however left hand traditional with offer a different "feel" in the hand. I play both(mostly matched)left hand trad has been a mission and 10 years of trying is finally paying off...a little. This kid explains it very well. If you want to learn it this is a perfect place to start. Derek Pope has a great one too. Peace

When i first started traditional grip my fleshy part of my ring finger hurt as i played but that was only for a day or 2. Yes it might hurt at first but keep playing and it will soon go away... @Ilovehossain It's called flux, the powder is something like borax, its is used to keep oxygen away from the metal while welding. the metal is so hot that it vaporizes the borax, which displaces all the air around it. pounding on the hot, almost melting metal, squeezes the iron atoms together, creating a seem-less weld. If oxygen were present it would bond to the iron as well, creating imperfections in the weld and making the metal weaker. the vapor from the borax won't bond to the iron though.

Masahiro are not the best katana available, but if you're willing ot put some time into it and especially for the price you are paying, Masahiro blades put Paul Chen and Cheness blades to shame. I own a cheness, and a Hanwei Paul Chen Green Bamboo and a Masahiro Bushido Fuji, the Masahiro is by far the better balanced and better cutter (after several weeks of polishing) than the latter, nevermind my favorite.

You don't see a lot of really good company made katana out there because they are still very expensive. The good ones I am talking about still have a great deal of hands on forging, but they use modern tech as well that replicated the practicality and use of a true Japanese katana. They still can't compete with the geniusness of the craftsmenship of the tradional, but to think their sand ore is magic is silly. The Japanese had shitty quality ore, and the magic was/is turning that ore to a sword.

Despite the narrator, wonderful vid. I don't understand the ripping on modern nontraditionaly made swords. If want a strong, sharp, well balanced Japanese style sword, it shouldn't matter if it is a traditionaly made Japanese super expensive work of art or made with the help of modern machines in another country. The price is not what makes it authentic, it's the steel, there's a batch of steel made only once every year. 2 tons is distributed among the elite sword crafters in Japan. If it's made of that, it's considered authentic. Tho if you ask me, it's not authentic unless it's been used. And getting one of those will set you back 6 figures at least.

Thank you for all the videos mantic. I've used the Gillette Sensor for 8-9 years now and just getting into safety razors. Concerning aftershave, I am a die-hard Old Spice user. Could you recommend any suitable replacements that are non-alcoholic? I would like to stop using alcohol based aftershaves as I do think that in time my skin would become less soft. Or is it possible to mix a bit of old spice in a neutral smelling balm to get the same effect?

Mantic59 Thanks for posting these great videos! I didn't shave regularly before I saw these videos, because shaving was not a pleasurable experience. But After watching these videos, I started wet shaving with DE razors. I cleaned up my grandfathers Gillette super speeds (a red flair tip from '56, and a standard flair from '59). They give an excellent shave, especially with a premium blade. I also use his Old Spice shave mug for my shave soap. Its a great way to shave, & remember my grandfather!

They sting like hell, and the alcohol dries out your skin in a negative way (mine gets really irritated because I have dry skin). I have been practicing with traditional grip a lot lately and, really, I get much better bounce and note quality with my left hand now. Yay! But, as a primarily rock drummer, I can't seem to get that same snap on the snare that I can get with matched grip. Even with the elbow-in trick, I just don't get that power. Any suggestions?

Great vid mate. Informative and entertaining as well. Lowering the left elbow also reduced the chances of the military drummers having their left arm shot off from musket ball or shrapnel. FWIW, they weren't drummers as such, but signallers who relayed information to the troops on the field via drum patterns. :-)

@boogster123321 There was a trend in Rhodes sounds as well...Even though it's again very popular nowadays, it was pretty much non-existent in the early 90's (in the 80's it transformed into that Yamaha DX7 "ep" you heard everywhere). What Corea is playing here looks like a Rhodes Mark IV or V, both of which have this very bright sound to them. This bright sound was also called the "Dyno Rhodes". He seems to have a bit of Chorus on it as well.
